ART THERAPY: a cREATIVE PATH TO WELLBEING

Art therapy is where creativity meets healing.

Art therapy uses drawing, painting, clay, collage, and more to help children and young people explore thoughts or feelings they can’t quite say in words. Whether inspired by a prompt or following their creative flow, each child is gently invited to discover and express what’s inside. As a psychodynamic art therapist, I support this journey by helping translate inner expression into meaningful reflection and insightβ€”without pressure.

The art making process can be guided by your feelings, thoughts and experiences. You may start after a prompt or creating something that comes to mind. The therapist will support and facilitate discussion, helping you gain insight into your emotions and experiences.

What happens in a session?

No, you do not need to be good at art and no experience is necessary.

The focus is not on the artistic quality of the work but on the individual’s inner experiences and the therapeutic process.

Do I need to be good at art?

Working with children and young people, I specialise in supporting trauma recovery, brain injury adjustment, and neurodivergence with gentle, psychodynamic guidance, tailored to each child’s needs. My role is to help children express what they may not yet know they feel, in non‑verbal, creative ways.

Often unconscious thoughts affect our mood and behaviour in ways that we aren't even aware of, and which may not always make sense to us. Through creative activities and play, art therapy can gently help people to explore these deeper feelings, helping to process emotions, reduce anxiety, and gain a better sense of themself. Art therapy provides a safe and supportive space where they can express what's on their minds in a way that feels natural and comfortable.
